Touch Down

It was over 31 hours from the time we woke up in Brisbane to the time we crashed out in our hotel in Brooklyn. Although we probably only managed 3 hours sleep between us the entire trip, I was feeling relatively energised by the time we checked into the Downtown Hotel. The whole trip went remarkably smoothly. The only hiccup we had was trying to catch a cab from where we emerged from the subway to our accommodation. Turns out we were about 200m away but it may as well have been 200km having no map or internet. After the first taxi who stopped didn't know where the street we were looking for was, a kindly black man gave us a lift. The hotel was possibly, I think, drawn up in meters and then built in feet. That is to say our room is the size of  a shoebox.

We quickly headed out in search of the closest purveyor of beer and food. The restaurant having the most convenient location relative to our digs was 'Junior's Most Fabulous Cheesecakes & Desserts'. I'm not sure about the cheesecakes but the food and beer went down a treat after 5 meals courtesy of Qantas. I played it safe and went for a cheese burger. However, Amy tried her luck with 'Something Different' as the menu descriptively put it. What arrived was a pile of slow roasted beef sandwiched between potato pancakes with gravy and apple sauce. Delicious? Yes Different? Definitely.

Beer of the day:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager- Bottle $4.00 - Pretty good value. Caramelly, smooth and delicious. A reliable brew when in doubt.
